Milton Keynes Dons FC 3 Blackpool 1
Danny Wilson's MK Dons earned their second successive home win with a 3-1 Christmas stuffing of Blackpool at the National Hockey Stadium.
Izale McLeod's cool finish, Steve Palmer's header and Allan Smart's clincher rendered Scott Taylor's penalty useless as Wilson's Christmas crackers made Colin Hendry's men look like turkeys.
The Dons had the better of a scrappy opening and came close to breaking the deadlock on three occasions in the first half an hour through Smart, full-back Gareth Edds and Wade Small.
It took Blackpool half an hour to come to life, but when they did they carved out two golden opportunities to take the lead. Skipper Mark McGregor rose highest in the 31st minute to head Jamie Burns' corner just over the bar.
And then seconds later Danny Coid swivelled in the box and struck a low left-foot shot which Matt Baker saved well on his home debut in the Dons' goal.
But the Seasiders were made to pay to pay for that miss five minutes before the break when Dons' top scorer McLeod bagged his tenth of the season on the break.
The lively Small - returning after a two-match ban - found space in the box and slotted a clever ball inside to the former Derby striker, who curled home left-footed from ten yards.
Blackpool came out fired up for the second half and the tricky Burns almost equalised just three minutes after the interval when he fired just wide after turning Edds inside out.
However, Milton Keynes grabbed a second from the most unlikely of sources in the 73rd minute. Nicky Rizzo's corner was headed straight back to him, and he crossed for big centre-half Palmer to head home unmarked from ten yards.
Blackpool were thrown a lifeline when Dons' Dean Lewington was harshly adjudged to have brought down sub Keigan Parker in the box 10 minutes from time and Scott Taylor coolly slotted home the spot-kick.
But Smart put the game beyond doubt a minute later when he capitalised on Peter Clarke's defensive error to ram in the Dons' third goal at the near post.
