The Dons secured their biggest ever away win with goals from Jermaine Easter, Peter Leven, Sam Baldock, Jason Puncheon and a Gary Liddle own goal at Victoria Park.
"For that type of result and that type of performance to come at a place like Hartlepool, where teams don't like to come and play, makes it all the better," assistant boss Robinson said after the 5-0 win.
"They don't lose many games here and don't concede many goals, so to score five and play like we did - so resolute and so solid - is very pleasing.
"It was a pleasure to watch and their fans clapped us off at the end and were coming to the dug-out to say we gave the best performance they have ever seen at this ground."
